In general the best selling internet products depend on whether people search for them. That is the keyword phrases people type in search engines and how many and how strong the competition is when you look at the search engine results page.
All the keyword phrases found on this site have low competition and relatively high demand.
How can you be sure of this? Whip out your favourite keyword research tool and see for yourself. One of the most frustrating things about the keyword tools is that once you meet the criteria for obtaining a good keyword phrase in one tool another tool will suggest the phrase is no good or nonexistent. Let us look at just three well known market niche research keyword tools (there are many other tools) :
In general a good keyword phrase in Wordtracker has a count of about 10 or more. In Micro Niche Finder the SOC or the strength of competiton should be green and in my experience have a count of less than 30. In Google's Adwords keywords tool, the monthly global count should be about 2000 or greater.
Now let us take the example of the phrase 'cocker spaniel grooming'. The Adwords global count (broad) for 'cocker spaniel grooming' at the time of this writing is 6,600. That is a good count. Now let us check the SOC in Micro Niche Finder. It's 10. That's excellent. Okay but let us check the granddaddy of keyword tools, Wordtracker. Oops!!! Wordtracker reports that not only is the count below ten the phrase does not exist in its database! This happens time after time just when you think you have found your hidden gem. What do you do?
Many experts would say that with further investigation, you should really consider basing your business around 'cocker spaniel grooming' because there is no magic phrase or topic. But I disagree. Why not get keyword phrases that are in agreement in the good keyword research tools. After all you are going to spend time and effort building a business site. Why start a business on uncertainty when you can be more certain.
You should have a product keyword in your keyword phrase. In my opinion focusing on selling products is the best internet business. After all you are probably on this site because you are wondering about what to sell online or the best product to sell online. So the phrase 'cocker spaniel grooming' is a poor choice because people searching Google are looking for a service at best and are certainly not looking to buy a product or even look at products. So ranking number one in google for this phrase will mean almost no sales if you are just selling products and offering no grooming services.
But how do you decide how many keywords go into your phrase or business name or topic? According to the web analytic company, onestat.com:
I have found the competition of one and two word phrases fierce. It is extremely difficult to rank high in the search engines if you focus on one or two keywords. Three or four keywords are ideal and a lot of people still search for them. If you think about it three or four keyword phrases will also contain one and two word phrases.
At whattosellonline.org I consider all these basic factors and many others.
